Book Review: Be Iron Fit
Book Author: Don Fink
This is a great primer on marathon, iron man, and ultra training.
It boils down to a fairly simple training regimen by coaches who have been there done that with numerous athletes.
They reinforce the importance of being able to metabolize fat – not glucose – for endurance races. You do this by doing the bulk of training in zone two and altering your diet can help a bit with this too.
The point is you would need to eat ungodly amounts of sugar for a glucose metabolism to let you run an 100 miles or even do an iron man.
Effectively you should be able to sustain your athletic output in a ketogenic state. A metabolism that the vast majority of people just haven’t developed.
