Book Review: Don't Make Me Think

Book Author: Steve Krug

This is a design book my wife recommended to me.

Its a simple framing for the goal of design – don’t make the user think. That is the razor of success, NOT the number of clicks for an action or anything else. The user should always know where to go and what to do.

After this central premise is laid out the book talks about some specific ways in web and mobile to accomplish this – especially where things go wrong.

I forget if I got this from this book, but Jakob’s Law is one of the most important ideas I’ve heard in this vein. Definitely worth a google search.

Read this if you are building any sort of product.
