I have always considered myself a polymath. After all, the principals that underpin reality apply to all disciplines. Having a richer understanding in one transfers to others.
It is little appreciated that all non-linear value comes about from catalyzed evolution rather than incremental improvement though regressive improvement is a primitive of the former.
Still, for the Founder Prep Era my primary skillset as a builder was as a software engineer. In that time from 2016-2023 I incubated several secondary skillsets.
I wanted my derivative of improvement to be as high as possible over the next 75+ years of expected lifespan so early on I focused on a collection of meta skills to become a “paragon of humanity” focusing on practical cognition, evolutionary psychology, and %0.1+ health which happens to underpin performance and longevity. As a side-effect I am effectively a strength coach, nutritionist, and longevity expert.
I also read many biographies and built a map of what ingredients went into creating a trillion dollar company. This was the period of 2016 - 2019. I also deeply examined molecular biology and genetics while working between the robotics lab and the analytics tool. This is when I realized that trend was too early to catalyze a trillion dollar outcome.
Regardless, this meta improvement became a tertiary background thread in 2019+ as I built world class skills in my primary earning skillset of software development from 2019 - 2021.
In that period, as a secondary thread, I focused on examining skillsets I could pivot to so that I could take advantage of the next major technological revolution and capture significant value as a founder. A few notable areas that interested me:
- machine learning
- quantum computing
- blockchain
- 3D printing
- robotics
- XR
At the same time, I advanced my skillset to the top few % of software engineers while at Meta and began to transition into an engineering leader. Later in 2021 I shifted into product management, design, and further engineering leadership in a high throughput environment as co-founder of LeftLane. I learned to hire, negotiate, and make deals on the side. In short, I became a fully integrated founder.
However in the next era, I have needed to make a non-linear evolution by transitioning from world class practitioner to inventor. I will be walking a path more similar to an Elon Musk than a Steve or Bezos.
In the current The “Rocketship” Era — Going Big on Startup v2 my primary career skillset is centered around visionary missionary, roboticist, and embodied ML inventor. I intend to make the foundational model that will power all kinematic motion for robots by inventing Droid OS — see Droids.
